Teaching Assistant Roles

I have been a teaching assistant for seven undergraduate courses ranging from first-year to fourth-year, in the Departments of Plant Sciences and Biology. These roles have included laboratory instruction, pre-lab lectures, assignment and exam grading, and helping students apply course concepts in both field- and lab-based contexts.

Courses

PLSC 450 – Applied Entomology (2024–2025)

  • Graded assignments and provided detailed feedback
  • Assisted in syllabus development
  • Created an original assignment on economic injury levels and thresholds
  • Delivered two guest lectures:
    • Applied Entomology in Action: IPM and Tools for Growers (2024)
    • Applied Economic Thresholds (2025)

PLSC 382 – Introduction to Field Scouting (2024–2026)

  • Provided feedback on assignments
  • Guided students in field data collection and observational techniques
  • Supported development of applied scouting and decision-making skills

PLSC 340 – Weed Science (2024–2025)

  • Graded lab and field assignments
  • Facilitated weed ID and herbicide mode-of-action exercises
  • Assisted with exam invigilation

PLSC 260 – Principles of Plant Protection (2024–2025)

  • Led weekly laboratory sessions
  • Delivered 30-minute pre-lab lectures
  • Graded assignments and supported student learning in plant protection

PLSC 222 – Introduction to Field Crops (2024–2025)

  • Graded assignments and provided feedback
  • Facilitated student discussions
  • Supported application of crop management concepts

AGRC 111 – Introduction to Plant and Soil Sciences (2023, 2025)

  • Supported first-year students in foundational plant and soil science
  • Provided individualized lab and lecture support
  • Assisted with midterm invigilation in 2025

AGRC 445 – Experiential Learning in the Workplace (2023)

  • Evaluated SOP documents
  • Graded audio/visual communication projects
  • Provided feedback on transferable professional skills
